GLACIER NATIONAL PARK PEAK SEASON RESTRICTIONS:

  • From June 13 though September 28, bicycles are prohibited going eastbound between 12 pm and 6 pm from Apgar to Logan Pass.

  • From June 13 through September 28, bicycles are prohibited going westbound between 3 pm and 6 pm from Logan Pass to Apgar.

  • This ONLY applies to whatever portion of Going-to-the-Sun Road that is designated as "open to motor vehicles."

1. GOING TO THE SUN ROAD
During the spring season (May-June) - while the road is closed for cars - you can transport the e-bikes to Avalanche campground or to Lake McDonald Lodge and ride on Going to the Sun Road from there.  Our e-bikes have sufficient range to cover the distance from Lake MacDonald Lodge or Avalanche to Logan Pass and back, but there will not be enough battery to ride from the store, unless you use the bikes without electric assistance for most of the trip. There are 37.4 miles from our store to Logan Pass, so about 74.8 miles round trip.

HERE ARE THE OPTIONS for transporting e-bikes to Avalanche Campground or Lake MacDonald Lodge::

A. TO TRANSPORT THE BIKES YOURSELF YOU WILL NEED:

AN OPEN PICKUP TRUCK
- (we can fit up to 6 bikes with a tailgate pad)
OR

LARGE VAN OR RV - all bikes should be able to fit standing up without touching and be secured
OR

Car or SUV with a 2 INCH HITCH RECEIVER - we have bike racks for rent

B. YOU CAN USE OUR SHUTTLE SERVICES

The Park offers a free bike shuttle during the spring hiker-biker season, but only during the weekends.  You can ride our e-bikes to Apgar and catch the Park Shuttle from there to Avalanche.  We are not responsible for the Park shuttle schedule, but they are running every hour or so. For more information about biking restrictions and safety regulations visit the Glacier National Park WEBSITE.

2. WHERE ELSE CAN YOU RIDE?

In July and August, you can ride from our store, there is a bike path across the street that will take you directly into Glacier National Park, it's about 6 miles to the West Entrance.  From there you can take the bike path to Apgar Village, Fish Creek and Lake McDonald and even on the Inside North Fork Road from Fish Creek.  There are also multiple options in the area where you can ride an e-bike outside of the Park. You can find more information and maps on our MAPS page.
